AI, People & Businesses: Is AI able to replace people?
Today, we have a huge topic “People, AI, ML and Businesses”. A topic that most of the people don’t know exactly where is going or even worse, a topic that for some people is quite unknown.
So, let’s begin with the simple things. What exactly is the definition of AI? And what is the difference between AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning).AI & ML
To start with AI, it refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think and mimic human actions, while ML, is the process of AI as known as the machine learning process.
Going back to 90’s there were a lot of movies referring to AI as the satan, or the hell of the world, with one of the most famous movies “Terminator” and the Skynet.
But let’s go to the present.
AI has done quite huge steps the last years. Especially people working in tech, they can see the difference even on each day. Each day, another app with AI will be present, each day AI might be a bit smarter and make your life easier! But is it gonna replace people’s jobs?
AI is just a tool...
And the answer is of course no!
AI is based on all the data gathered by the internet -and thus means gathered by people- and to be a bit more accurate, it is based on some data which they have the consent to be used for ML and improve AI. Day by Day, AI is going to be a bit more accurate, smarter on the results that it’s giving, but this is not applied to every aspect and technology yet.
Without us, the people, AI wouldn’t exist! But the real reason that AI is just a tool to ourselves (and not taking our jobs), is the fact that in order to have proper and improved day-by-day AI, you need to also have people maintaining it. So most probably, AI will change the job roles needed and not replace us!
"Magic" expand of a photo using AI!
A nice example is a free version of AI magic expand of photos provided by canva. Although, it is a nice add-on to make some funny magic expands to a photo, it’s not a tool to work in a professional manner. Below, you will see one photo of mine, that I wanted to expand the nature on the left and right of the photo.
Canva AI magic expand decided that I definitely have a dog, and not only this, I have a crazy-eyes Black dog (in all the next possible tries I made!). It was fun I can say, but not something I could use for a professional use 🙂
You can still see all the mistakes AI might do, such as hands (that probably I don’t have based on AI’s opinion 😛 ), and small details around a human body that are very abstract or confused let’s say..
Is AI a tool for businesses?
Well, that depends! To be honest, I have never used a premium AI-based application (paid versions) to get results, either on text (like the ChatGPT Plus, and so on), or image generators with AI (DALL-E premium version) or any other AI smart use you might think of.
To be able to use AI tool for a professional manner and have high expectations of the results given, you need to invest on them by getting premium version. Nothing in this world that gives you money, doesn’t require money.
If you just want to have fun, of course you can use the free versions! But just keep in mind, that all of these require energy and resources on the cloud side. If you want to be environmental friendly or you believe in the energy waste reduction, try to keep low usages of AI and ML in general 🙂
